IS PAXIL AN ANTIDEPRESSANT THAT KILLS?

Mesothelioma:

Paxil is an antidepressant medication that was put onto the market in 1992. It is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that is used to treat mental conditions such as depression, social anxiety, panic disorders, and phobias. One of the major side effects of taking Paxil is increased suicidal behaviors. Since 2005, many lawsuits have been filed against the GlaxoSmithKline pharmaceutical company, the company that manufacturers Paxil because many people claim that the company hid or misrepresented the information on the possible side-effects such as increased suicidal behaviors, and as a result were either harmed, injured or even died as a result of taking the Paxil medication. Therefore, can Paxil really be an antidepressant medication that kills people? The answer to this question is yes.

The risk of suicidal behaviors is often seen in patients under the age of eighteen. Because Paxil was never approved by the FDA as a pediatric antidepressant, many young people have thought about or committed suicide as a result of taking Paxil. However, these suicidal behaviors are not only seen in patients under the age of eighteen, they can occur to any patient regardless of their age or sex. For example, in 2001, a 70 year old man by the name of Mr. Tobin was taking some Paxil samples that he had gotten from his doctor to treat depression. While taking the Paxil, Mr. Tobin ended up shooting his wife, his daughter, his granddaughter, and then shot himself because of the increased suicidal behavior. The court case revealed that these actions were the result of taking the Paxil medication and the family was awarded eight million dollars. Since this lawsuit in 2001, thousands more people have filed similar lawsuits against the GlaxoSmithKline pharmaceutical company for various injuries or wrongful deaths that have occurred as a result of the suicidal side effects caused by taking Paxil.

In addition to suicidal behaviors, there are also situations such as birth defects and developmental problems that occurred in infants and children as a result of taking Paxil. Women who took Paxil during pregnancy were two times more like to experience various cardiac and respiratory birth defects. Although the babies survived and are still living, they are living with the birth defect that was caused by the antidepressant, Paxil. These cases are also part of the Paxil lawsuits.

So, regardless of rather you suffered injury, harm or wrongful death, Paxil is a drug that can seriously alter your life. Paxil is a drug that causes injury, harm, birth defects and it definitely is a drug that can kill.
