Ways to Treat High Blood Pressure

High Blood Pressure:

Blood Pressure is the force of the blood pushing against the walls of the arteries. Blood Pressure is recorded as two numbers. For example 120/80.The larger number indicates the pressure in the arteries as the heart squeezes out blood during each beat. It is called the Systolic Blood Pressure. The lower number indicates the pressure as the heart relaxes before the next beat. It is called the Diastolic Blood Pressure.

High blood pressure, which is the elevated pressure of the blood in the arteries, often result from two major factors: the heart pumping blood with excessive force and the narrowing of the body's smaller blood vessels that causes blood flow to exert more pressure against the vessel's walls. Although your body can tolerate increased blood pressure for months and even years, eventually the heart may enlarge, resulting in serious health problems.

High blood pressure can go undetected for years, since in most cases there are no external symptoms, resulting in progressive damage to major organs like the heart, kidney, liver and blood vessels. It is possible to associate high blood pressure symptoms with the secondary causes of high blood pressure or hypertension such as oral contraceptives and other ailments that could result in hypertension or high blood pressure.

Some of these treatments include lifestyle changes, use of natural alternative medicines, and dietary changes. Lifestyle change requires you to have a more active lifestyle and exercise. Herbal medicines, on the other hand, can also be taken along with your prescribed medicines.

Increasing your activity level is one of the best ways to begin to lower your blood pressure. Exercising at least 20 minutes a day is a great start in keeping your heart healthy and controlling blood pressure. A simple 20-minute walk around the block or any activity that elevates your heart rate will do wonders for controlling your blood pressure.

Acupuncture treatment is found to successful on only patients with hypertension (high blood pressure) and has no effect on the healthy patient. Goal of this study is to establish a standard of acupuncture treatment that can benefit everyone, who has high blood pressure and other cardiac ailments.

It is very important to keep blood pressure under control as high blood pressure, or hypertension as it is commonly known, may lead to heart attack or stroke. According to medical research, every 20-point increase in the systolic reading or a 10-point increase in the diastolic reading nearly doubles the risk of heart attack or stroke.

Electro-acupuncture treatments

Acupuncture combined with electric stimulation or electro-acupuncture can lower elevations of blood pressure in human beings. When the research was conducted for the first time, acupuncture needles were inserted on the inside of the forearm just above the wrist, but to no avail. Researchers then started adding electric stimulation to the needles, which means that electric would start flowing from the needles to the body.

Maintaining a healthy blood pressure is extremely important in living a successful healthy and long life. The danger with high blood pressure is that it often goes unnoticed for years, and can lead to serious heart trouble, heart attack or stroke.
